    LAUNCH OFCRITICAL CONCERNS

     

    As we had mentioned in earlier newsletters, CED is proud to present the latest addition to its DP collection – Critical Concerns. It is being launched in Bangalore this month and in Bombay in October.     HABITAT AND DISASTERS

     

    We are working on another set of monthly compilations on Habitat issues and Disasters. Areas which we feel are more and more relevant in today’s climate. As with our other compilations, it will consist of clipping from newspapers, journals, newsletters, magazines and websites as well as from more local sources. We are offering a one year complimentary subscription to organisations working in Tsunami hit areas, who will keep this material in files in a public place or at a documentation or Resource centre.     THE DP COLLECTION

     

    Since we now have many DPs on a variety of important topics: Legal Rights, Habitat and Disasters and Critical Concerns we have decided to offer them at concessional rates. The annual subscription rate is: Rs. 4000/- for one DP, but if you take two, the second will only be Rs. 2000/- and if you take all three DPs, the third will only be Rs. 1500/-.     PUBLICATION DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM (PDS)

     

    We have decided to close our PDS as we felt that we were not able to concentrate enough on our own publications… however we will never abandon our members.. infact we have decided that we are going to give our members a regular listing of books available from us, and, provided that you order within one week we will give you big discounts from 20 – 30%!!!     CED ON TOUR

     

    On 30th September and 1st October there is a two day workshop on Health and Human Rights being held at YMCA, International House & Programme Centre and we will be there with a stall selling CED publications.. so please come and see what we have and say Hi.

     

     3rd October  World Habitat day - on this occasion 3rd & 4th October be-sharp invites for its second conference on "Education and Training for Sustainable Build Environment" being held at Walchand Hirachand Hall, Indian Merchants' Chamber Building, Churchgate, MUmbai. (John should we put this or not. If yes you need to write on this. we are also part of it and we putting up our stall over there)

    City farming is an innovative technology which deals with farming in urban areas and essentially on terraces, balconies and even on the walls of civil constructions.  Dr.R T Doshi has perfected a method of growing fruits and vegetables for domestic consumption, which involves relatively low labour input, organic production methods and very high yields.
